Sr. Specialist - Contractor, Marketing Research | Brand & Creative Department |Marketing Division

Responsible for conducting secondary and primary research initiatives that entail complex analyses and utilizing findings to build data-driven recommendations that guide brand strategies, program development, and marketing communication decisions.  Manages and prioritizes a portfolio of research projects.  Builds consultative relationships with internal clients & research agencies. Offers strategic advice to Marketing leadership based on research.  Leads research strategy development of projects as delegated by the Director of Brand Marketing or a designee.  Remains current on trends and emerging industry resources.  Experience in brand research, copy testing and/or online communities is a preferred.  Role and responsibilities are similar to a Research Manager or Research Director role in an agency model.
 
 
Essential Job Functions
  1. Uses a relatively high degree of concentration and project management to oversee development and execution of multiple research initiatives that support brand marketing and communications plans.  Requires experience and understanding of all research methodologies and phases of applied research project management including research design (qualitative and quantitative), vendor management, questionnaire/discussion guide construction and presentation/report development.
 
  1. Works with a high degree of autonomy primary and secondary research projects that provide guidance to brand strategists and/or development teams in the conception and design of marketing campaigns. Serves as an in-house research expert, collaborating and negotiating with key individuals in all departments, including brand strategy, to develop and execute cohesive research approaches that meet needs of all teams. Leverages a range of research methodologies, including, but not limited to: focus groups, in-depth interviews (IDIs), surveys, dial testing, online communities and web usability.  Works with Research Director (Sr. Liaison, Marketing Research) ensuring accuracy of project objectives, methodology and research plan.
 
  1. Communicates research findings (both verbal and in writing) in an easily understood manner using various illustrative techniques including charts, tables, infographics, etc.  Presents data in an engaging manner and ensures understanding of research findings and recommendations.
 
  1. Responsible for leading research projects that may be requested by upper management. Must be a strong listener, detail-oriented and conduct one’s self with professionalism and maturity. Experience working with upper management, such as written and verbal communication, is a plus.
 
  1. Ideal candidate has experience working with survey analysis tools (i.e. SPSS or equivalent), syndicated research tools (i.e. Simmons, MRI, etc.) and understanding how to conduct professional primary and secondary research projects.  
 
  1. Requires working knowledge of survey design. Knowledge and experience with Qualtrics is a plus.
 
  1. Performs administrative duties for team. Requires knowledge of SharePoint.  Maintains Marketing Research library within SharePoint.
 
  1. Adheres to all ethical standards and code of conduct related to market research.
 
Requirements
Knowledge - Requires prior marketing research, consumer marketing, and data mining experience; demonstrates skills necessary for strategic thinking and being solution oriented; exhibits the capabilities needed for organizing, translating, and presenting complex quantitative/qualitative information to key stakeholders as a group and individually; ability to manage all aspects of out-sourced projects, strong interpersonal skills; speak and write in a clear and understandable manner for internal/external relations; understands data processing applications; experience using relational databases and data warehouses, knowledge ordinarily acquired through a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Marketing, Social Sciences and/or related discipline with a strong quantitative and qualitative research background; 4 or more years of marketing research and analytics experience is required. Highly organized with a strong competency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and other programs as required); Competency of SPSS (or similar statistical analytics software); Working knowledge of advanced statistical methods such as regression and factor analysis; and familiarity with data mining concepts is a plus. Must possess a valid driver's license (essential job functions: 1- 8).
